One of the main features of the phone was the (OTA) Over The Air updates which meant that the software on the phone would be ever improving and it was exciting as the first couple of updates rolled out.

At the moment, there is not much going on, on the android scene. It seems that it’s just gone of the boil recently.

I hope that Google impresses us soon with a further exciting update.

Let’s look at a local builder, why would they need a web site? Well say I build a small brochure web site for them and SEO it up for the key words builder in Stockport..I can expect it to be around the top of the search engine listings. Generating about 5 – 10 visits a day.

Not worth it..eh? Well it is..because if just one of those visitors turn into a client then the cost of the web site could be payed for in the aquisition of that new client.

It’s clear that even small businesses can benifit from having a web site.

The mercury rising

But one thing is different with the summer…when it’s too cold, we get wrapped up and turn the heating on to our desired temperature. But in the Summer there’s is nothing you can do, and because traditional the UK is used to milder temperatures hardly anywhere has air conditioning.

It’s not only the heat its the distractions, I live in the centre of Stockport and because I’ve got the windows open I can hear people enjoying themselves in a beer garden and it leaves me with no choice but to join them.

I am finding it difficult to design web sites, especially in Stockport.

Hopefully things will get easier when the storms come at the end of the week.

Even though I always over analyse things, I could not even guess why this happens.

The strange thing is it seems to happen in most if not all industries, in particular, as a Web designer, my Stockport clients’ Web site statistics always seem to have completely random peaks and slumps.

It could be that, for example on the first day of the month people say to themselves “Right..I really need to get this Web design stuff sorted this month”. So they call me for a quote.

Or it could also be that something universal stimulates customers to behave in a certain way..something on TV or in the media.

Unfortunately you probably will never know what triggers customers behaviour, as they cannot tell you what made them contact you, as it was probably a subconscious, untraceable decision.

However, the person who can harness this power of persuasion would become a very wealthy person indeed.

When an analysis of voters for Obama was studied, it showed that a significant amount of the voters where 1. Young, 2. First time voters, 3. Of ethnic minorities.

I think the main reason that Obama took such a majority vote was because the way his campaign utilised the web.

Viral marketing was used massively, even though he raised more funds for the campaign than all of his competitors, he still spent wisely.

New media like YouTube, Face book and Twitter have launched many other brands very successfully and relatively cheaply compared to traditional mediums such as TV and Magazines.

Windows 7 logo - Is the new OS required?

The road map of Microsoft’s OS (Operating System) is a bit worrying, users have been reluctant to ditch Windows XP for Windows Vista. Why people are ready to once again to move to another EXPENSIVE! software upgrade, even in the next few years is a mystery to me.

I think that Microsoft should concentrate on the development of existing products, perfecting and tweaking them until they are working nicely. You don’t need me to tell you that Windows Vista still has bugs and still crashes. Microsoft should first learn from their mistakes before moving to another OS.

Probably the biggest noticeable change in the next OS is touch support across the range. This is in anticipation of a move from the mouse to a more natural user interface, as scary it is to throw out the mouse, the time is approaching when it will become obsolete.

This entails a big change in the way Web sites are constructed, as we will use our fingers as opposed to a tiny precise mouse pointer. Links on a Web page will have to be bolder and isolated from other links, to prevent mis-clicks. This isn’t a big problem for most Web designers as if Web sites are designed with accessibility in mind, then this will already be the case.

I suppose that we will have to wait and see how the software and hardware behaves before the future for Web design can be predicted on the Windows platform.
