But what does this mean for <a title="Go to the services page - Web design" href="http://www.thewebdesignguy.co.uk/services.php#web_design" target="_self">Web design</a>?</p>
<p><span id="more-6"></span></p>
<div id="attachment_16" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 230px"><a href="http://www.thewebdesignguy.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/windows7logo-copy.jpg" ><img class="size-medium wp-image-16" title="windows7logo-copy" src="http://www.thewebdesignguy.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/windows7logo-copy.jpg" alt="Windows 7 logo - Is the new OS required?" width="220" height="143" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Windows 7 logo - Is the new OS required?</p></div>
<p>The road map of <a title="Go to the Microsoft homepage" href="http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.microsoft.com');" target="_blank">Microsoft</a>&#8217;s <a title="More information about OS (Operating System)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_system" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/en.wikipedia.org');" target="_blank">OS (Operating System)</a> is a bit worrying, users have been reluctant to ditch <a title="More information about Windows XP" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/en.wikipedia.org');" target="_blank">Windows XP</a> for <a title="More information about Windows Vista" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vista" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/en.wikipedia.org');" target="_blank">Windows Vista</a>. Why people are ready to once again to move to another <strong>EXPENSIVE!</strong> software upgrade, even in the next few years is a mystery to me.</p>
<p>I think that <a title="Go to the Microsoft homepage" href="http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.microsoft.com');" target="_blank">Microsoft</a> should concentrate on the development of existing products, perfecting and tweaking them until they are working nicely. You don&#8217;t need me to tell you that <a title="More information about Windows Vista" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vista" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/en.wikipedia.org');" target="_blank">Windows Vista</a> still has bugs and still crashes. <a title="Go to the Microsoft homepage" href="http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.microsoft.com');" target="_blank">Microsoft</a> should first learn from their mistakes before moving to another <a title="More information about OS (Operating System)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_system" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/en.wikipedia.org');" target="_blank">OS</a>.</p>
<p>Probably the biggest noticeable change in the next <a title="More information about OS (Operating System)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_system" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/en.wikipedia.org');" target="_blank">OS</a> is touch support across the range. This is in anticipation of a move from the mouse to a more natural user interface, as scary it is to throw out the mouse, the time is approaching when it will become obsolete.</p>
<div id="attachment_17" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 230px"><a href="http://www.thewebdesignguy.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/684px-3-tastenmaus_microsoft.jpg" ><img class="size-medium wp-image-17" title="684px-3-tastenmaus_microsoft" src="http://www.thewebdesignguy.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/684px-3-tastenmaus_microsoft.jpg" alt="The trusted mouse - I think it's a Goodbye" width="220" height="193" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">The trusted mouse - I think it&#39;s a goodbye!</p></div>
<p>This entails a big change in the way Web sites are constructed, as we will use our fingers as opposed to a tiny precise mouse pointer. Links on a Web page will have to be bolder and isolated from other links, to prevent mis-clicks. This isn&#8217;t a big problem for most Web designers as if Web sites are designed with accessibility in mind, then this will already be the case.</p>
<p>I suppose that we will have to wait and see how the software and hardware behaves before the <a title="More information about Web design" href="http://www.thewebdesignguy.co.uk/" >future for Web design</a> can be predicted on the Windows platform.</p>
<p>When I have installed and tested <a title="More information about Windows 7" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/en.wikipedia.org');" target="_blank">Windows 7</a>, I will post another article with my verdict.</p>
<p>A video of <a title="More information about Windows 7" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/en.wikipedia.org');" target="_blank">Windows 7</a> in action.</p>
