But one thing is different with the summer…when it’s too cold, we get wrapped up and turn the heating on to our desired temperature. But in the Summer there’s is nothing you can do, and because traditional the UK is used to milder temperatures hardly anywhere has air conditioning.

It’s not only the heat its the distractions, I live in the centre of Stockport and because I’ve got the windows open I can hear people enjoying themselves in a beer garden and it leaves me with no choice but to join them.

I am finding it difficult to design web sites, especially in Stockport.

Hopefully things will get easier when the storms come at the end of the week.

My pal is a plasterer in Stockport..I spoke to him the other day..He said “Can you explain why I get zilch new leads for days, then one day I get inundated with calls?”.

Strange trends can be seen more easily in graphs like this

Even though I always over analyse things, I could not even guess why this happens.

The strange thing is it seems to happen in most if not all industries, in particular, as a Web designer, my Stockport clients’ Web site statistics always seem to have completely random peaks and slumps.

It could be that, for example on the first day of the month people say to themselves “Right..I really need to get this Web design stuff sorted this month”. So they call me for a quote.

Or it could also be that something universal stimulates customers to behave in a certain way..something on TV or in the media.

Unfortunately you probably will never know what triggers customers behaviour, as they cannot tell you what made them contact you, as it was probably a subconscious, untraceable decision.

However, the person who can harness this power of persuasion would become a very wealthy person indeed.

Now I have progressed from A Local Web Designer and my Web design company progresses, The need for reliable backup is becoming very, very apparent. After all I need to keep all my Stockport Web design clients happy.

PC failures cannot be prevented but the damaged cause can be minimilised

When using your PC it can be a bit to easy to get complacent, then one day, when you come to turn on your PC…it doesn’t boot up, and because it was all going so well up to now, we weren’t to concerned with backing up regularly where we.

Oh well, no need to worry, good old Microsoft will help us get back up and running in no time…err no…its not that simple!

Microsoft is great when it comes to backing up some music and image files to a DVD or even a network location.

But that is not good enough for some people, I at least want to be able to backup to multiple locations and would love it if I could backup to a web server.

It seems that I’m going to have to do some research/experiments to find a suitable backup solution. It has to be simple, automatic and cheap/free.

Check back soon for my findings.

Meanwhile I would appreciate your experiences with medium sized backup solutions.
